As they navigate the often-difficult transition from adolescence to adulthood, students participate in programming, clinical services, academics, and community connections/activities based on their individual needs.
Program Steps & Advancement
Students participate in a four-step program designed for young adults. Expectations, therapeutic assignments, and opportunities for each step are clearly defined in an effort to support our students need for predictability. Initially students work on participation, taking responsibility, being respectful and basic daily living skills. The steps then build on themselves preparing students to self-advocate, be accountable, communicate more effectively, establish healthy relationships, increase coping skills, safely navigate and access the community, and find what makes them happy.
As young adults, students are expected to take an active role in their treatment. They participate in developing their treatment plan, setting goals and reviewing their overall progress as a member of the treatment team. During their Treatment Plan Reviews they are encouraged to advocate for themselves, build on their strengths, and seek support for their limitations.
