Here we have compiled a number of frequently asked questions.
Which program or school is right for my child?
Although not required by most programs, we highly recommend parents enlist the help of a professional referral agent, such as a member of the INDEPENDENT EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT ASSOCIATION. These professionals have extensive knowledge of special needs programs and schools throughout the country, and can recommend the most appropriate placement options.
If you choose to place your child in a program/school without assistance, we suggest you research the schools carefully and strongly recommend you visit the school in person.
Can I visit Waterfall Canyon Academy before my child is enrolled?
Waterfall Canyon Academy welcomes visits from parents of prospective students. To arrange a visit, please contact our Admissions Director Bree Green at (801) 645-2568 or Bree@waterfallcanyon.com
How will my child be transported to Waterfall Canyon Academy?
How long will my child be at Waterfall Canyon Academy?
Parents should plan on a time frame of twelve to eighteen months of enrollment. Our students benefit from repetition of newly learned skills and consistent behavioral interventions. Removing a student before he has actually implemented true changes generally results in a return to self-destructive behavior patterns. Parental support of treatment and willingness to implement behavioral strategies in the home, will reduce the amount of time needed for the changes to occur.
How often can I call or write my child?
When will I be able to visit my child?
How can I keep track of my child’s academic progress?
Academic progress reports are completed by our teachers at OakGrove School. Waterfall Canyon Academy/OakGrove School will keep parents informed of educational progress through e-mail and/or phone calls. Educational progress will often be discussed in the weekly family therapy sessions as well. Parents will also have access to an online system that is consistently updated with our students academic progress.
How will my child’s medical and dental needs be met?
Students should have physical and dental examinations completed just prior to entering the program. Waterfall Canyon Academy will arrange for necessary medical and dental treatment through local providers, utilizing parent’s insurance whenever possible. Of course, all medical and dental emergencies will be addressed immediately through the appropriate provider.
Do you accept or bill insurance?
Insurance funding may be available depending on your family’s policy and your child’s medical necessity. As a licensed private-pay facility we work with Bridgeway Billing, a third-party advocate, to help families navigate available insurance. Bridgeway Billing helps families interface with their insurance company by: checking benefits, seeking authorization and billing applicable treatment costs.
